I've been leading a double life, using both Twitter (RobertTalbert) and identi.ca (rtalbert), for a couple of weeks now. I like what I see with identi.ca: the value and flexibility of open-source, the growing user community, the clean interface, and the fact that it seems a little more professional/nerdy and less cartoonish than Twitter.

But I think identi.ca has a lot of ground to make up if it wants to take off like Twitter has. Twitter has a host of features like automatic URL shortening that identi.ca has yet to implement -- although that ought to be easy, since it's open source -- and a ton of third-party extensions and apps that play nice with Twitter. Now that identi.ca is using the Twitter API we may see identi.ca catch up in that regard. But Twitter still appears to be the coin of the realm in microblogging and I haven't felt that shift yet.
